A drunk driver was pulled out of a Tesla by passersby before the car went up in flames, following a single-vehicle crash in New Taipei City in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, March 27. Firefighters in Tainan City used an estimated 20 tons of water to fight a fire after a Tesla electric car caught fire following a crash in Tainan City last week, according to the Tainan City Fire Bureau. Captain Chiu Yuan-ming (邱淵明) said that normally around three tons of water is required to extinguish an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle fire. A building was destroyed after a lithium ion battery being repaired in the first floor electric bicycle business went up in flames. Because there were many flammable substances in the store, an intense fire quickly engulfed the business. Four men managed to make it to the roof from where they were rescued by firefighters, but two men died in the building.
