Six Vietnamese workers are confirmed dead after a fire at a factory in Taoyuan in the early hours of this morning, December 14. All six remains were found on what is suspected to be an illegally constructed dormitory on the second floor. The fire broke out at around 2:00am. A veterinarian at a wildlife first aid station in Nantou County yesterday, made painstaking efforts to rescue a huntsman spider from a sticky rat trap. Eventually, the Heteropoda venatoria, also known as the giant crab spider, or cane spider, was freed of its predicament using flour, salad oil, cotton swabs, and a lot of patience. A young man was hospitalized after falling from the 5th floor of a building in Xizhi District, New Taipei City, this afternoon, Tuesday, December 12.
