Iranian Fighter Strikes Again: Bus Driver and Cops Injured
An Iranian man who was released without bail after fighting with police near the Presidential Palace yesterday morning, beat up a bus driver in Yonghe District before fighting with police who came to the driver’s assistance this morning.
Wahid, 31, was released without bail last night and restricted to his residence in Yonghe District. At around 6:00am, Wahid appeared in the middle of a road in Yonghe District, impeding traffic. The driver of a shuttle bus got out to try to persuade him to get off the road.
Wahid punched the 63 year-old driver around the face and head more than 10 times, leaving the driver with a black eye, bruised face, and a bloody nose. Frightened passengers called the police. When police arrived, Wahid started fighting with them. At least one officer was punched in the face.
Two passersby came to the assistance of the police and helped subdue Wahid.
An Apple Daily report alleges that Wahid went out drinking with friends all night and was on his way home when the altercation occurred. However, police found Wahid had a zero blood alcohol level. Wahid claimed that he was out of sorts because he had lost his job and was unemployed.

I thought the title was bad enough — focusing on the nationality of this man rather than the help he should have received after he was first arrested, but there is a tag for “crazy Iranian.” If you think this is an issue about a person (or nationality) who is innately crazy, you have a lot to learn about mental illness and are missing a piece of your humanity.
Ok. The “crazy Iranian” tag was a bit much. I removed it.
However, the use of the nationality of an individual in a headline is quite justified when an individual of any nationality is involved in a news incident in any country other than his own.
Can you offer advice to the contrary?

I read the article and felt sympathy for that man, and those he hurt. He is having a hard time and his actions, from my point of view, are a cry for help. If this is true, he was released without getting the help he needed. People aren’t born crazy or evil; he did these crimes for a reason — maybe out of mental illness or maybe as cries for help. I would ask more questions and hope this man, and future foreign people in peril, get the help required to overcome their struggles so they can live meaningful lives in Taiwan.

Why should the TW government go out of its way to help a crazy expat? Their hands are already full helping their own people.
