Firefighters in Taichung City broke the glass of a claw machine this afternoon, after a three year-old boy climbed into the machine and became trapped. Emergency services received a call from the boy’s distressed mother at 1:07pm. The woman told dispatchers that her son had crawled into the machine when she wasn’t paying attention. A military explosives team was called to Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City, this morning, after a grenade was spotted on the sidewalk outside an electrical appliance store. Police blockaded the area and called the military after receiving a report about the grenade at around 8:00 am. Drunk American Arrested After Harassing People in the Street

An American man was arrested in Taipei City yesterday afternoon, January 4, after he harassed one man and four women near a Zhongshan MRT Station exit in an alley off Chang’an West Road. Police allege he sexually harassed women and groped their buttocks and chests. At around 3:00 pm, an obviously drunk Caucasian male was reported to be aggressively harassing passers by. Drunk Driver Falls Asleep at the Wheel After Sideswiping Car

A driver in downtown Taichung City was so drunk that he didn’t realize he’d sideswiped a parked car. Around one minute later he stopped at a red light and fell asleep. NT$200,000 Cash Thrown Out with the Trash

A man in Chiayi County was lucky enough to recover a bundle of cash that he accidentally threw out with the trash. Chiayi County Environmental Protection Bureau director Yan Xuming (顏旭明) told CNA today, November 28, that a resident of Taibao City had inadvertently thrown out NT$200,000 (US$6,675) on November 24. Fortunately the man was able to contact the EPB in time to prevent the cash being incinerated. The EPB contacted the trash truck driver before he reached the incinerator.

An Iranian man referred to in Chinese language news reports as “Wahid” attacked police officers standing guard at an intersection of Ketagalan Boulevard in Taipei City this morning. Two officers required hospital treatment after the attack. Man Attempts Suicide by Bus

A man in Banciao District of New Taipei City yesterday ran and leapt into the path of a bus in an apparent suicide attempt. The 920 line bus was traveling in the inside lane of Wenhua Road en route from Linkou to Banciao when the 55 year-old man named Wu walked into the outside lane, then suddenly ran towards the bus and leapt at the windscreen. The bus driver slammed on the brakes, causing passengers to scream and fall over.
