Woman murders 75-year-old married boyfriend

A 65-year-old woman was charged with murder in Pingtung County yesterday, after the body of a 75-year-old man was found by a riverside in Gaoshu Township, June 4.

Police received a report at around 4:00am June 4, after members of the public doing their early-morning exercise found a man laying on the riverside path with no signs of breathing or heartbeat.

Investigators found the man dressed only in a shirt and underwear, with no documents, and no nearby vehicle despite the remote location.

The man’s neck had obvious marks, and his genitals had been bound with red rubber bands.

Later the same day, a woman named Jiang drew the attention of police after hitting a parked scooter, and fleeing the scene of an accident. The car Jiang was driving was found to belong to a man named Huang.

After investigators positively identified the deceased as Mr Huang, 75, who was the owner of the car, Jiang became a murder suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Ms Jiang had been associating with the married Mr Huang for three or four years, but Huang had been belittling her and wanting to break up.

Mr Huang had described Ms Jiang as “short, black, and ugly.” He considered himself to have a higher “market value,” and said that he had women lining up to associate with him.

Ms Jiang finally confessed to having murdered Huang. Her first attempt involved putting sleeping pills and alcohol into a dish of fish soup. However, Huang did not fall asleep, and only became tired and lethargic.

Jiang proposed they go for a walk on the levee bank pathway beside the river at Nanhua Bridge. As the couple strolled, Jiang used a length of rope she had concealed, and strangled the elderly man.

Jiang then wrapped Huang’s genitals with rubber bands. Originally, she had intended to purchase a pair of scissors to do the job, Jiang told police interrogators; but it was raining, and inconvenient, so she resorted to using rubber bands.

Yesterday evening, June 5, Jiang was charged with the crime of homicide by the District Prosecutor’s Office.
