Woman jumps from moving car on freeway after husband stabs her

A woman in Kaohsiung City jumped from a moving car to escape being stabbed to death by her husband as they traveled on National Highway 10 this morning, January 28.

The 38-year-old woman named Sun was traveling with her 51-year-old husband, named Liu, and their 2-year-old son, when the couple began to argue at around 10:40am. Mr Liu lost his temper, grabbed a knife, and stabbed Ms Sun. Ms Sun then jumped from the car at high speed, according to an Apple Daily report.

Sun landed on painted traffic separator at the Yanchao Interchange. Shocked passersby, seeing the woman laying on the pavement covered in blood called emergency services, while Mr Liu sped away from the scene with his son.

Sun was treated in hospital for multiple injuries, including the stab wound, and is said to be out of danger.

Update: 7:45pm: Sun had knife wounds to her chest, arm, and shoulders, and had an iron bar stuck in her back, according to United Daily News.

Mr Liu turned himself in at the Qishan Police Station shortly after 11:00am. Police found the interior of his car splattered with blood, while Liu was said to have “an unstable mood.”

The 5th brigade of the National Highway Police are investigating the incident as a case of attempted murder.

The 2-year-old boy was taken into care by the Social Affairs Bureau.
