The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has named the tropical depression currently dumping rain on Taiwan, Typhoon Kemi, making it the 6th named tropical storm for 2018. Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB) is not yet calling it a typhoon. The 18th typhoon of the 2017 season may affect Taiwan from Wednesday, according to the Central Weather Bureau. Tropical Typhoon Talim formed near Guam September 7. Typhoon Hato is expected to make landfall in southern Taiwan with the eye passing to the south of the island tomorrow.
