Uni student survives 5-storey fall after leaving her key at home

A female university student fell from the 6th floor of a building onto a roof 5 floors below, in Kaohsiung City in the early hours of this morning, but remained conscious and is not seriously injured, according to reports today, May 28.

Kaohsiung City Fire Department received a report that a person had fallen from a residential building in Gushan District at around 1:00 am.

Firefighters found the 22-year-old woman, named Tsai on a roof on the first floor. Tsai was conscious and groaning in pain. Tsai was reported to have suffered serious cuts to her feet, but her life was not in danger.

According to a police investigation, Tsai and her housemate had left their keys inside the apartment. Tsai decided to attempt to gain entry to the apartment through a window on the outside of the building.

Tsai’s housemate attempted to dissuade her, but Tsai persisted, lost her footing, and fell.

After firefighters stabilized Ms Tsai on a stretcher, they carried her through a second-floor apartment window, and sent her to the hospital.
