Taiwan’s Advantech signs strategic partnership with Vietnam’s VinBus to develop intelligent electric bus system

Industrial computing company Advantech (TWSE: 2395.TW) announced today that its Vietnam subsidiary and VinBus, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s VinGroup, which specializes in intelligent electric buses, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

Under the strategic partnership agreement, the two companies will jointly develop intelligent electric bus management systems. VinBus intelligent electric buses will be Vietnam’s first public transportation vehicles to be equipped with Advanced Internet of Things (AIoT) technology.

According to the agreement, Advantech and VinBus will cooperate to support and promote their intelligent electric bus management system, including fleet management, route management, passenger information management, electric vehicle battery management, and passenger Wi-Fi service.

The above systems are based on Advantech’s TREK intelligent bus solution, including on-board computing platform, AI intelligent video ADAS system, industrial network communication system, and video push and display system.

Do Duc Hau, General Manager of Advantech’s Vietnam subsidiary, said that signing with VinBus not only confirms the strategic long-term cooperation commitments between the two parties, but also gives full play to the synergy of each other’s brands, reputation, products, and solutions. Do is confident that Advantech’s diverse and professional IoT solutions will effectively assist the development of the VinBus intelligent electric bus management system.

VinBus Deputy CEO, Nguyen Van Thanh said that when VinBus evaluates partners, quality and efficiency are the primary considerations. Advantech is not only a global leader in industrial Internet of Things, and Internet of Vehicles, but also has nearly 40 years of rich industry and operating experience. VinBus is convinced that the cooperation with Advantech will provide all-round solutions for VinBus in the operation of the intelligent electric bus management system.

The Advantech and VinBus project will begin with the introduction of the first phase of electric buses in Hanoi, and the application is expected to be rolled out throughout Vietnam.

The partners are optimistic that this application will be replicated in Asian and global markets in the future.
