Six college students were injured after a car went out of control and careered into a group of 7 scooters traveling together on route 28 in Kaohsiung yesterday. At around 9:30 pm, a driver named Zheng (鄭), who police suspect was speeding, lost control of his vehicle on a bend, and smashed into the group of 8 young scooter riders aged 19 and 20, who were on their way to Qishan Township. Six thousand runners participated in the second annual Banana run – the Qishan Marathon, in Kaohsiung this morning, Sunday, January 7. Many runners wore yellow clothes, some sported yellow sneakers, and a few even donned banana suits for the event. The route for the run meandered through banana plantations and fields of soy bean. Participants were treated to all kinds of banana flavored snacks including banana soup, banana egg rolls, banana cake, banana bread, banana popsicles, and banana vinegar drinks.
