Nipple Slip Embarrasses Kaohsiung LRT
In what may be a new take on “interactive advertising,” Internet users questioned whether an advertising company had deliberately placed an ad so that a button was placed to look like a nipple on an anime character’s breast. Kaohsiung light rail commuters complained that pushing the button felt embarrassing.
The ad campaign for the game “Girls und Panzer” features cute schoolgirls displayed on the sides and doors of the rail cars. Users of the light rail are required to push a button to open the doors and enter the rail cars.
Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (KMRT), the company that operates the light rail, said it will ask the advertising company to revise the ads immediately.
The pictures have generated discussions on Twitter and Taiwan’s PTT bulletin board. A user on PTT uploaded the following picture of a bus in Japan that is even more provocative. Many people suspect the ad-positioning was made on purpose.
