Man Throws Dog from Sixth Floor
Around 10pm, Sunday July 26, a man in Keelung City threw a dog from the sixth floor of a building. The dog landed in the middle of the street and died of massive head trauma. Residents placed stools and a red box on one of the stools to avoid the dog being run over by a car, and called animal protection and police authorities.
The suspect, fled from the scene but was caught the next day in Taipei on drug and fraud violations. The dog, described as a red poodle, belonged to the man’s housemate, who was absent at the time. If found guilty, the suspect will face up to one year in prison and a fine of between NTD10, 000 and NTD100, 000.

Why do we have animal abuse penalties if the authorities NEVER enforce them? We MUST treat animal abuse as the serious crime that it is. This is no minor action; it cannot be excused. Please, Taiwan, prosecute these crimes to the full extent of the law: up to one year in prison and a fine of between NTD10, 000 and NTD100, 000. “情理法” must stop if Taiwan is to ever join the developed world.
