Man gets stuck after putting arm in claw machine
A man in Tainan city was stuck in an awkward position after putting his arm into a claw machine, in an attempt to grab a stuffed toy that fell into the hatch, but didn’t make it all the way down, Sunday evening.
The man, named Du, successfully clipped a large, stuffed, Snoopy doll, and managed to maneuver it into the top of the hatch, but it failed to fall all the way into the retrieval bay. Mr Du called the owner of the shop, and decided to attempt to retrieve the toy himself.
However, Du’s arm became stuck, and he was left laying on the floor, helpless.
Firefighters received a report that a man required rescue in a claw machine arcade in Tainan City’s South District at around 9:00pm, Sunday evening.
Mr Du was stuck for about 30 minutes, until firefighters managed to extricate him from his predicament. The rescue team were about to use their equipment to destroy the lock, when the owner turned up and opened the machine with a key.
According to United Daily News, police did not pursue the incident as a case of theft, as Mr Du had called the owner of the shop in advance to inform him that the toy had not fallen into the retrieval bay.
A CTS reporter noted that it’s not really worth risking losing a hand for a stuffed toy.
