Foxconn and Gogoro form strategic alliance for global e-scooter expansion
Foxconn parent company Hon Hai Precision Industry (TWSE: 2317) announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with electric vehicle manufacturer Gogoro to form an alliance on technology and production strategies to accelerate plans for Gogoro’s global expansion plans, today June 23.
The cooperation agreement will allow Gogoro to use the world’s largest technology manufacturer and service provider, Hon Hai Technology Group’s high-tech manufacturing capabilities to enhance the capacity and scale of battery exchange technology and smart electric vehicle production to expand into global markets including that of China and India.
Young Liu, Chairman of Hon Hai Technology Group, said “This cooperation combines Gogoro’s advanced battery exchange and smart electric vehicle technology with Hon Hai’s vast global manufacturing capabilities, allowing Gogoro to build a large number of smart battery exchange ecosystems around the world.”
Hon Hai and Gogoro will promote a number of cooperation projects, including smart battery exchange systems, vehicle engineering, and manufacturing. Integrating Hon Hai Group’s solid production capacity, global factory layout and strict quality control, Gogoro will focus more on product design, research and development, brand marketing, channel expansion, and customer service.
Gogoro is a global innovation leader in the development of compact electric power, smart battery design, battery exchange, and advanced cloud services that use artificial smart batteries to manage safety and balance between supply and demand.
The Gogoro Network is a battery exchange platform with more than 2,100 battery exchange stations in Taiwan serving around 400,000 customers.
