Concrete mixer truck plunges 20 meters off elevated expressway
The driver of a concrete mixer truck died after his vehicle plunged around 20 meters off an elevated expressway in Kaohsiung City today, August 16.
The truck had just left National Freeway One and was rounding a curve on an elevated exit ramp when it hit the guardrail and toppled over shortly before 11:00 am.
The truck landed on the sidewalk on Yugang Road. Fortunately no vehicles or pedestrians were passing by at the time.
Kaohsiung City Fire Bureau dispatched eight vehicles and 22 personnel to the scene of the accident. Firefighters cut the 32-year-old driver named Wang out of the mangled wreck of the truck, but he had already lost breathing and heartbeat and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
