3 Injured in Kaohsiung Hit and Run
The driver of a car in Kaohsiung City fled on foot this morning, after drifting into oncoming traffic lanes and bowling over two scooters. Three people were injured in the accident, including a woman who is reported to be in the intensive care unit with crush injuries to her left leg.
At around 7:30am this morning, a small, black coupe driven by a man named Yang slowly drifted into oncoming traffic on Pingdeng Road in Fengshan District. After hitting two scooters carrying a total of three people, Yang abandoned the car and fled the scene.
Police traced the owner of the car as a man named Huang, but then found that Huang had sold the car to Mr Yang in October last year. Mr Yang, who has previous criminal convictions for drug-related offences maintained the car as registered to Mr Huang.
After being arrested in the afternoon, Mr Yang claimed that he had dozed off at the time of the accident, and panicked and fled on foot when he saw the blood-splattered scene.
