Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is preparing to take delivery of the first shipment of new EMU900 local service trains which are expected to arrive October 24. Built in Korea by Hyundai Rotem, the trains are being touted as a big improvement in local train services. A car was crushed by a train when it was struck at a level crossing, then jammed between the train and a building. Fortunately no one was injured in the incident. The driver failed to notice the flashing lights, crossing bell, or the oncoming train as he negotiated the crossing. The driver of the train, which was carrying over 100 passengers applied the emergency brake but couldn’t stop in time to avoid the collision. Fortunately, as the train was approaching
