Executive Yuan Cabinet spokesman Hsu Kuo-yung today announced that the Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Commission will be dissolved at the end of the year. No provisions were made to fund the MTAC in the 2018 budget. New Power Party legislator Freddy Lim applauded the move, saying that the people of Taiwan waste hundreds of millions of dollars every year funding the MTAC on the basis of a fantasy that Tibetan and Mongolian affairs are the affairs of Taiwan. A comprehensive report on Taiwan’s fishing industry was released by Greenpeace International, Thursday April 14, which accuses the country’s government of failing to take responsibility for the actions of of its fishing fleet in global waters; and warns of damage to the Made in Taiwan brand.
