A Spanish man was stabbed on a beach in Pingtung County during an altercation with local fishermen. One wound missed his heart by 1 centimeter. According to reports at United Daily News, and Liberty Times Network, 42 year-old Inecio Prio cut a fisherman’s line after it became wrapped around his leg while he was surfing at a beach in Manchou Township this morning, March 31. A statue of the Virgin Mary housed in Taiwan’s oldest Catholic church caught fire today. Fire fighters are investigating whether arson is involved. Firefighters received a report at 4:28pm. By the time firefighters arrived church members and visitors had already put out the fire using fire extinguishers. A 14 year-old girl and two of her friends, 14, and 13 years old were injured when the scooter they were riding on crashed into an ambulance in Pingtung County at around 9:30PM Saturday June 25. All three of the teens were rushed to hospital, one in a critical condition. The mud volcano which is located in Pingtung County in Taiwan’s south, last erupted in late April, created a spectacular light show this evening June 24 as it blazed from 6:00PM. At 10:00PM it was still burning. Residents and visitors took pictures and posted them on social media. The mud volcano erupts periodically at different locations within a roughly 2 kilometer radius, as the pressure of natural gasses builds up. Locals sometimes ignite the gases.

A mud volcano erupted in Pingtung County this morning. Around 9 a.m. this morning mud began flowing from 5 holes that appeared in rice paddies about 50 meters west of Huang Yuan Holy Temple in Wandan township.
