Suspected killer arrested after four days on the run
A man suspected of shooting a man dead, and leaving a woman critically injured in Tainan City February 21 has been arrested and charged for range of offences relating to the incident.
Investigating police were tipped off last night that Jin Wen-long was having dinner at a beef noodle shop in Jiali District, Tainan City. At around 7:00 pm, a police team swooped on the location, and arrested Jin as he was about to leave on a scooter.
The uncooperative suspect was pressed to the ground before being handcuffed. Jin was in possession of a pistol and six bullets. During interrogation overnight, Jin confessed to the crime, and admitted that the gun in his possession was the murder weapon.
Jin told police that he and the deceased, Mr Yao, had been friends for more than 30 years, but had recently clashed over a business partnership, and incidents relating to the woman, Ms Guo, who was also shot on February 21.
Four days after the incident, Guo remains unconscious in an intensive care unit after having three bullets removed from her head, chest, and abdomen.
Early this morning, February 26, Jin was taken to the Tainan District Prosecutor’s Office where he was charged with offences including homicide, injury, and illegal weapons.
Due to the serious nature of the crimes, which involve the possibility of a long prison sentence, and a high flight risk, the prosecutor requested that Jin be kept in detention, and not released on bail.
