Suspect Arrested after Shooting at Cops
A man in Kaohsiung City led police on a chase in the early hours of the morning, firing two shots at the officers before being arrested.
Police on patrol in Fengshan District at around 1:00am grew suspicious when the driver of a silver sedan attempted to speed away on seeing the patrol car. However, the hapless suspect ducked into an alley only to find it was a dead end.
Lin, 41, with previous criminal records for drugs and burglary, abandoned his vehicle and fled through a vacant house which was being renovated. Finding an unlocked bicycle, Lin mounted the bike and attempted to escape, turning to fire three shots at the patrol car. However, Lin’s handgun jammed on the third shot, and Lin lost control of the bicycle while shooting, and crashed into a parked car.
The officers quickly suppressed Lin and disarmed him.
Lin was found to be in possession of a modified pistol with four bullets remaining in the magazine, 28.95 grams of heroin, and NT$101,000 cash.
Lin was handed over to the District Prosecutor to face charges relating to drugs and illegal weapons.
