Military Assault Rifle and Grenade Pistol in Gangster’s Arsenal
An Israeli manufactured military assault rifle and a grenade pistol were among small arsenal confiscated in Taichung city last night. Police arrested a man believed to be holding the weapons for use on demand by members of a criminal gang.
After an investigation that included monitoring the residence of a man named Lin, who has a criminal record for drugs offences, police yesterday were issued a warrant to search the premises.
Lin, 26, was charged with illegal possession of weapons that included a TAR-21 infantry assault rifle, a grenade pistol with 5 grenades, 2 Clark pistols, 253 rounds of rifle ammunition, and 258 rounds of pistol ammunition.

Has this… always been going on in Taiwan and we just haven’t known? Or has it been covered extra in recent months? Or are the police finally cracking down on things? Like……… what is going on– it’s a gun bust or gun violence every week now, it seems.
It’s always been like this as far as I know. Most street crime is not covered by the corporate English language press in Taiwan, and that is precisely why I started this site. What you read here is just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t have time to cover comprehensively. There was another story today involving a gangster with a pump-action shotgun, a gunsmith was busted yesterday for making pistols out of replicas, and the day before yesterday, a man was busted with 7 firearms including handguns and rifles.
Guns are actually daily news in the Chinese language press, although fortunately gun violence stories are far fewer than gun confiscations.
