Man survives fall from 23rd floor in Taichung City
A man remained conscious after falling from the 23rd floor of a building and crashing through the roof of a neighbor’s shed this morning, June 14.
Taichung City Fire Department received an emergency call at around 7:00 am from a resident who reported that a stranger had crashed through the roof of his backyard shed, and required an ambulance.
Firefighter paramedics responding to the report found a man named Hsu, conscious and with a suspected broken limb. Hsu told the paramedics that he had fallen from the 20th floor.
While Hsu, who is in his 20s, appeared to be not seriously injured at first, his condition deteriorated after being sent to the hospital and he is currently intubated and undergoing emergency surgery.
The investigation so far has found that Hsu is suspected to have been suffering from emotional problems. Video evidence showed that Hsu went to the 23rd floor roof of the high rise residential building, and marks on the wall suggest that he climbed over it and fell.
