A man suffered four gunshot wounds after a gunman strafed his car in a drive-by shooting in Hukou Township, Hsinchu City, yesterday, Sunday, December 9.
At around 2:00pm Mr Wang, 21, was driving his white Mercedes Benz sedan when he noticed a vehicle following his. Wang stopped outside the residence of an acquaintance named Guo, on Shengli Road. The driver of the following vehicle stopped beside Wang’s vehicle, lowered the window, fired more than 10 shots at the driver’s side door, then sped away.
Four of the shots hit Wang in the back and thigh. Wang got out of his car and went into Guo’s residence for help. Paramedics found that Wang had difficulties breathing as one of the bullets had lodged in his thoracic cavity. After emergency surgery, Wang is reported to be out of danger.
According to ET Today, police investigating the crime were suspicious about a strong smell in Guo’s residence yesterday evening, and a search turned up 2.8 kilograms of ketamine in 696 coffee packs, and thirty rounds of ammunition.
Police have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting is gangland-related.
According to United Daily News, on July 20 last year, Mr Wang’s father fired more than 20 shots at a business not far from yesterday’s shooting. Several hours after the incident, a man named Zhong met with the Wangs to discuss the dispute. An altercation ensued where Wang junior hit Zhong over the head with a bottle.
