Man Brutally Murdered in the Middle of the Street
A man was brutally cut down and killed by his older brother in the middle of a road in Shilin District, Taipei City, this afternoon, according to reports in local media. The brothers had had a long-running dispute over land they had inherited.
At around 2:00pm, the elder of two middle-aged brothers named Ho, attacked his younger brother with a kitchen cleaver in front of a residential building on Zhishan Road. The younger Ho, 56, attempted to run away, but was cut down in the middle of the road. The 65 year-old suspected killer then fled with the assistance of his 30 year-old son.
Bystanders who witnessed the incident immediately called the police.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Ho laying in a pool of blood in the inside lane of the divided 4 lane road. Ho was obviously dead, with more than 20 knife wounds to his arms, legs, torso, and head.
With multiple slashes to the abdomen, and a split skull, no attempt was made to resuscitate the victim, and the District Prosecutor was called to take away the body.
Police are searching for the suspect, who is believed to have fled to Hsintien District.
Neighbors told Apple Daily that the brothers were quite wealthy. The elder was a well-known Koi breeder who owns a Koi farm, and operates several aquarium stores in Taipei City. The younger brother operates a shrimp farm.
Between them, the brothers are believed to own land valued in the hundreds of millions NTD.
