Man Arrested for Murder of 73 year-old Woman
A 38 year-old man has been arrested after the body of a 73 year-old woman was found in a chicken coop in Changhua City several days ago.
On April 30, Ms Ke went to the chicken coop 3.5 kilometers from her home to feed the chickens. When Ke didn’t return home, concerned family members went to search for her. They found Ke’s body in a container shed. Her pants had been removed and were wrapped around her neck.
An initial investigation revealed that the victim had no stab wounds or blunt trauma injuries, and had been strangled to death.
Monday evening, May 1, a 38 year-old suspect named Chen was arrested at an Internet cafe in Changhua City. Chen told police that he had given the woman a dog to take care of. On April 30, Chen and Ke had an argument over care of the dog after Chen found that Ke had been giving the dog dirty water. During the altercation, Ke had hit Chen on the head with a motorcycle helmet, enraging him.
Chen, an ex-marine over 180 centimeters tall, confessed to strangling the slim, 160 centimeters-tall old lady with his bare hands. Chen then took NT$1,950 from Ke’s handbag, and removed her pants and wrapped them around her neck as a diversion. The suspect denied sexually assaulting the victim.
Police found that Chen had served in the Marine Corps amphibious reconnaissance battalion, but was dismissed in 2003 after being convicted of a crime against sexual autonomy. Chen was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime.
Since his release from prison, Chen has been mostly unemployed, and homeless. He is also addicted to sniffing glue. Strong glue was among the evidence collected at the scene of the crime.
