Filial but drunk: driver crashes into police car injuring two officers
A driver rushing to visit his grandmother in hospital crashed head-on into a police car in Kaohsiung City this morning, and was promptly arrested for drunk driving.
According to an Apple Daily report, Mr Wang, 27, was drinking at a friend’s house when he received an urgent call informing him that his grandmother had suffered a fall, and had been sent to the hospital.
Wang anxiously got into his car with the intent of driving to the hospital, despite being under the influence of alcohol.
Unfortunately for Wang, at around 1:00 am, as he turned right at an intersection on Meishu East Road in Gushan District, he crashed head on into a police car stopped at a red light.
One police officer, named Hu, suffered bruises to his arms and the other, named Hsieh, was bruised on his chest. Mr Wang was not injured in the accident.
Wang was tested and returned a breath alcohol level of 0.68 BrAC.
Police sympathized with Wang’s filial piety, then duly delivered him to the District Prosecutor to face charges of endangering the public, and negligent injury.
