Delivery Man Faces Big Bill after Crashing into Ferrari Group
A 20-year-old driver fears that he will face a big compensation bill after dozing off and crashing into a group of four Ferrari sports cars in New Taipei City this morning.
At around 5:00am, Mr Lin was driving a Mitsubishi SUV loaded with goods for delivery in Shiding District when he began to doze off and veered left, sideswiping a yellow Ferrari parked on the roadside. The yellow Ferrari, belonging to a man named Yang, was one of four parked in a row after the owners had gathered to make a run to Ilan on the Beiyi Highway.
The SUV then crashed into the back right-hand side of the white Ferrari, which in turn hit a blue Ferrari. The blue Ferrari touched a red Ferrari, but fortunately only damaged the license plate. The owner of the red Ferrari said that he will not be seeking compensation.
Mr Lin, however, will face claims from the owners of the other three sports cars, according to a report in United Daily News. The report quotes an expert who after viewing the photographs estimated that repair costs would be at least NT$5.6 million.
Police called to the scene of the accident and breath-tested the drivers, none of whom were drink driving. As nobody was injured, the incident is being treated as an ordinary traffic accident where it is up to the drivers involved to negotiate payment for damages.
