Citizens take down robber in Yunlin County
Restaurant customers and passersby caught a man and pinned him to the ground until police arrived after a robbery in a hot pot restaurant in Beigang Township, Yunlin County today, May 10.
The Wuxian Hot Pot Restaurant was just about to open, and a clerk was preparing the cash float when a man walked in and claimed that he was from head office and making an inspection of the restaurant.
The man grabbed the several thousand NT dollars in cash, and after a brief tussle with the clerk, fled with the money.
The clerk yelled “STOP Thief!” and waiting customers and passersby chased the man down the street.
After a few minutes, the citizens caught up with the man and pinned him down on the road. Police quickly arrived from a police station just 500 meters down the street, and arrested the suspect.
The thief was found to be a former manager of the restaurant.
