A 20-year-old third-year student, named Lin, was caught under the wheel of the bus and lost vital signs at the scene of the accident. A 21-year-old student, named Wang, was only slightly injured.

The 65-year-old bus driver, named Shi, claimed that he couldn’t see the women because they were wearing dark clothing. Police conducted a breath test on Shi, and found that he was not affected by alcohol at the time of the accident. After being questioned, Shi was handed over to the Taichung District Prosecutor’s Office to face charges of professional negligent homicide.

Tunghai University said that Lin was a student of the accounting department, and Wang was a law student. Both lived on campus and were returning home from a shopping trip at the time of the accident.
