5 foreigners charged after brawl erupts in Kaohsiung City convenience store
Five men were sent to the district prosecutor to face charges of assault, and one also faces a charge of sexual assault, following a drunken brawl in a convenience store apparently triggered when one of the men touched a Taiwanese woman.
According to media reports today, June 9, two British men, aged 24 and 26, a 28-year-old German man, two Moroccan men, aged 29 and 32, and a 21-year-old Taiwanese woman went to a convenience store to chat after leaving a nightclub in the early hours of the morning. At around 4:30 am one of the Moroccans allegedly touched the woman inappropriately, sparking a dispute.
Surveillance camera footage from outside the store shows one of the British men punching a Moroccan man to the ground.
Police and paramedics responded to reports, and the two Moroccan men were sent to the hospital. All five men were reported to have been injured, but none of the injuries were described as serious.
The five men all filed complaints of assault causing injury, and all five have been charged accordingly. The Taiwanese woman also filed a complaint of sexual assault on one of the Moroccan men.
