Woman Has Firefighters Break Down Door to Catch Husband with Another Woman

A woman in New Taipei City made a false report that her husband may be suffering a medical emergency, in order to catch him with another woman.

Police and firefighters went to a residence in Sanchong District Sunday afternoon after a woman named Mrs Chen told them her husband had recently been released from hospital and was locked in the house, possibly unconscious.

After firefighters began smashing the security gate, Mr Chen, 55, dressed only in his underpants, opened the door.

Mr Chen’s wife demanded police and firefighters enter the residence to check if there was anyone else inside. At that point, the police realized they had been duped.

Chen refused to allow them entry, but eventually allowed his wife in after she threatened to commit suicide at the door.

The managers of the building told police that Mr Chen’s wife did not live in the building and the apartment was the home of Mr Chen and another woman.

The Fire Bureau said that although the woman made a false claim, she is not liable to punishment under the existing laws. Offenders can only be punished if they make a false report of a fire, causing social unrest.
