Typhoon-free Days Record Set to be Broken

Today, June 29, marks 198 days since the last typhoon left the north-west Pacific. The last typhoon weakened, or left the region December 15, 2015.

The last time the north-west Pacific saw 198 days without a typhoon was 1998, and before that, 1973. With no tropical depressions currently forming in the region, experts predict the record may surpass 200 days. From today, every day without a typhoon will be an extension of the record.
