The two Taichung City Police Department officers were transporting a wanted man to Kaohsiung City after his arrest in Taichung City earlier today.

According to a preliminary investigation, the police car is believed to have hit an SUV in the right-rear section before careering off the road. None of the occupants in the SUV were injured.

While the cause of the accident is still being investigated, National Highway Police Bureau investigators told the media that it was simply a traffic accident, and did not involve an escape attempt by the suspect.
