Suicidal Woman Rescued From 18th Floor Window Canopy

Formosa Television(FTV) today reported that a woman accidentally fell from a balcony and landed on an awning on the 18th floor of a 20 storey building in Taichung City yesterday, November 16. China Times went so far as to furnish a “schematic diagram,” i.e. a picture unrelated to the story, that showed a broken rain cover and bent canopy frame, suggesting that someone had fallen onto it from a height.

Apple Daily also reported that the 30 year-old woman had accidentally fallen from her balcony, while furnishing video and photographic evidence that showed Ms Chen sitting on the awning, 18 floors up, with her legs dangling over the edge and her cellphone and charger beside her.

Emergency services received a report that a woman was stuck on an awning on the 18th floor of a 20 storey building at around 11:30pm last night.

Firefighters inflated an air cushion on the ground as a rescue team went to the 19th floor apartment to rescue Ms Chen.

Chen was reported to be in a bad mood because of a work-related problem. She was also very drunk. Chen had fallen onto the canopy after going out to the balcony to get some fresh air, according to FTV.

One firefighter exited the 19th floor apartment from a window and stepped over from another window awning to help fit Ms Chen with a lifeline before helping her back over the balcony.
