Reward offered for finding motorcyclist missing in mountains

Friends and colleagues of a man who has been missing in a mountain district of Hsinchu County since Saturday have raised money to offer as a reward to anybody who finds him.

The 30-year-old man named Qi disappeared after becoming separated from friends while they were riding off-road motorcycles in Jianshi Township in the afternoon of September 11.

According to reports, Qi and friends met to ride on trails at Gaotai Mountain at around 9:30 am Saturday. At around 1:00 pm, Qi’s friends were tired and returned to the trailhead to rest. They could hear the sound of Qi’s motorcycle until around 3:00 pm.

When Qi failed to return by nightfall, his friends called the fire department. Fire department personnel searched in the night and found Qi’s motorcycle and backpack around one hour’s walk from the trailhead. Qi’s mobile phone was also found in the backpack.

A team of 19 search personnel from the Hsinchu County Fire Department continued the third day of the search for Qi today, Tuesday, September 14.

Friends of Mr Qi have raised NT$370,000 as a reward for finding him.
