Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau forecasts say that a rainy front will arrive tomorrow, June 1, bringing rain to northern Taiwan, and reducing temperatures to a range between 24°C and 29°C in New Taipei City and northern districts.

Central and southern Taiwan will see rain isolated mostly to the mountain districts.

The CWB said the temperatures in central Taiwan will range between 26°C to 33°C, while the south will experience 26°C to 34°C, according to the forecast. Temperatures on the east coast will range between 26°C and 32°C.

According to forecast data, the front will move away Monday or Tuesday, changing to a pattern of higher temperatures with afternoon thunderstorms.

Weather watchers are keeping an eye on two tropical disturbances, east and north of the Philippines, which have a chance of intensifying into typhoons sometime next week.

Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei, has been sweltering under the highest temperatures for May since records began 122 years ago, while in the center and south of the island, water restrictions have been put in place after the normal wet season “plum rains” have so far failed to appear, reducing water reserves to a critical level.
