Prague thanks Taiwan for medical supplies: “Taiwan’s success inspiring”
The Mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib thanked Taiwan for donating ventilators, saying that they will be used to save lives. Czech Parliament Senator Jiří Drahoš joined Hřib in a video to thank the people of Taiwan.
“Dear people of Taiwan,” Mayor Hřib, a qualified physician, said; “your success in your fight with coronavirus has been very inspiring for us here in Prague.”
“I hope this situation will be over soon so that we can cooperate more in the future.”
The message comes after the Czech Republic took delivery of 25 ventilators, along with ventilator filters, medical visors, and other medical supplies donated by Taiwan.
Senator Drahoš also thanked “Taiwanese friends” for what he called a “selfless shipment” of pulmonary ventilators and other medical equipment.
Drahoš expressed appreciation for the “willingness and openness” of Taiwan to share its experience and expertise in fighting the COVID-19 threat.
“You have adopted one of the most efficient measures which could serve as an example for other countries. I think it would be beneficial if your nation could be involved in the WHO,” Senator Drahoš said.
Senator Drahoš, a physical chemist who served as President of the Czech Academy of Sciences from 2009 to 2017, said; “I am particularly happy that Taiwan’s Academica Sinica, and the Czech Academy of Sciences are preparing a joint development of rapid test kits.”
“We are in this fight together,” Drahoš concluded.
The representative office of Czech Republic in Taipei and Taiwan’s equivalent in Prague recently issued a “Joint Statement on a Partnership against Coronavirus.”
Under the agreement, both offices are committed to partnership in the research and development of rapid tests, vaccines, and medicines, along with technology transfer of medical devices, and exchanges of medical equipment.
