Man shot in freeway road rage incident

A man was shot in the arm in what police believe was the result of a “driving dispute” on National Freeway 1 in Taichung City last night.

According to the media reports, the 25-year-old man, named Lin, was driving from Taoyuan City to Taichung City with his girlfriend when somebody driving a black sedan began to flash their headlights and tailgating his vehicle after passing the Fengyuan Interchange at around 9:00 pm.

Lin attempted to speed away and a game of cat and mouse ensued in which the two cars briefly raced with each other. The other vehicle then came side to side with Lin’s vehicle and shots were fired at the passenger-side window.

According to SETN News, a bullet missed 29-year-old Ms Shen who was sitting in the passenger seat, and hit Lin on his left forearm.

Lin exited the freeway at the Daya Interchange and Shen called for police and medical assistance.

Lin was treated at Cheng Ching Hospital and his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The National Highway Police Bureau Tai’an Branch is currently investigating the incident.
