Man critically injured after woman falls from 11th floor

A man remains in a critical condition today after a woman fell from her 11th floor residence and landed on him as he was walking on the sidewalk with his wife and child in Shulin District, New Taipei City, yesterday evening, February 5.

According to the police investigation, a 66-year-old woman fell from her apartment on the 11th floor of a building in Taiyuan Street at around 8:00 pm. A 45-year-old man named Wu was passing by at the time, having just picked his child up from a cram school. Both Ms Ding and Mr Wu lost vital signs at the scene of the accident.

Wu’s vital signs were restored at Tucheng Hospital, while Ding was declared dead after arrival at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital.

Today, February 6, Wu remains in the intensive care unit, unconscious with a coma index of 3. Doctors say that Wu suffered injuries to his neck, spine, hips, and respiratory tract.

According to a preliminary investigation, Ms Ding had told her neighbors that she had financial problems, but no suicide note has been found.
