A South Korean passenger aircraft carrying 117 passengers and 10 crew made an emergency landing at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan after detecting an engine-related problem during a flight from Singapore to Incheon International Airport today, August 2.
The T’way Air Airbus A330-300 flight TW172 departed Singapore’s Changi Airport at 3:30 am local time Tuesday.
“It was not that there was a serious problem with the plane, but that the flight crew detected an engine abnormality and made the decision to land at a nearby airport,” said an official from T’way Air in a phone call with local media, Korea JoongAng Daily reported.
Flight-tracking website Flight Radar showed the plane landed at Taoyuan Airport 3 hours and 44 minutes after take-off.
Taiwan’s Liberty Times reported that an alternative flight will depart from Taiwan at around 2:40 pm local time and is scheduled to arrive at Incheon International Airport at around 6:30 pm.
T’way Air became the first Korean low-cost carrier to operate the Incheon-Singapore route at the end of May this year.
