High-speed single-vehicle crash leaves one dead, one seriously injured

A woman died and a man was left critically injured after both were thrown out of a car that crashed into a utility pole in Miaoli County this morning, September 10.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of Miaoli County #43 and Dexing Road in Yuanli Township at around 6:40 am. Police and firefighters found a car that had been torn in half by the impact of the crash, with both occupants thrown out of the vehicle.

A 21-year-old woman was found without vital signs, and was later declared dead at the hospital. A 26-year-old man was found with serious head injuries but still conscious. The injured man was set to Lee General Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Police traffic investigators do not yet know who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
