Five Injured After Bus Hits Clearance Warning Bar

Five people were injured, one seriously, when a bus carrying students smashed into a clearance warning bar on the approach to a bridge in Luzhu Township, Taoyuan City, this evening, September 21.

At about 8.30pm, the bus hit the clearance bar at a speed high enough to cause the impact to peel away part of the roof from the front of the vehicle.

Five people were sent to hospital, including a seriously injured 17 year-old.

The bus was carrying 29 people at the time, including the driver. Twenty-six of the passengers were students from Kaohsiung on the second day of a graduation trip.

Among the injured were the bus driver, 58, a teacher, 39, a tour guide, and two students.
