Factory destroyed by violent fire in Changhua County

A factory producing plastic foam flooring material was completely razed to the ground after what firefighters described as a “violent fire” in Changhua County today, December 10.

Changhua County Fire Department received reports of the fire in Renli Village, Tianwei Township, at 2:07 pm. The fire department dispatched teams from six fire stations, with a total of 33 fire trucks and 69 personnel to battle the blaze.

A large quantity of flammable plastic and petrochemical raw materials, combined with windy conditions, caused the fire to quickly accelerate out of control.

According to a Liberty Times Network report, the pall of black smoke rising from the burning factory could be seen up to 10 kilometers away.

The fire was brought under control at around 3:20 pm, and extinguished at 4:42 pm.

Fortunately, nobody was trapped or injured in the blaze. The fire department is still investigating the cause of the fire, and making estimations of damages.
