Citizens Take Down Machete-Wielding Madman
A woman lost a finger and narrowly escaped with her life when her ex-husband attacked her with a brush-hook in Ilan County this afternoon, Friday, July 22.
The man, 48, entered his ex-wife’s, restaurant and attacked the 42 year-old woman with a long-handled, 60 centimeter blade brush hook, severing her finger as she fended off the blow. The woman ran out to the street screaming for help. Video footage of the incident shows the woman running through a crowded shopping area with the man chasing her.
The owner of a car-wash is seen tackling the man to the ground and is then assisted by others. One man disarms the man, while another helps keep him down. Another man with a stick aggressively approaches the man and threatens him with the stick.
The woman is seen in the foreground of the video holding her bloodied hand.
Police have arrested the man who has a history of domestic violence and harassment charges. He also suffers from a mild mental disorder.
The woman lost her left ring finger in the incident. She was also cut twice in her back during the chase, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
