China Airlines 747 collides with baggage cart at Chicago airport: engine damaged

A China Airlines cargo plane was damaged after colliding with baggage cart at Chicago O’Hare International Airport while taxiing yesterday, January 28.

China Airlines stated that the China Airlines 747-400F freighter, flight CI5240 (Taipei-Anchorage-Chicago) landed at Chicago Airport at 5:10 am local time on January 28. The ground was slippery due to heavy snow, and the aircraft collided with ground equipment, causing damage.

China Airlines said that the detailed cause of the incident is not yet known, and it will fully cooperate with the investigation of relevant U.S. authorities.

Pictures released to media showed damage to the engine fairing, fan case, and blades of the number two engine.
