Canadian student injured in bicycle fall at Sun Moon Lake

A female Canadian exchange student was rescued by firefighters after crashing down a 9 meter slope on a mountain road near Sun Moon Lake yesterday, May 9.

The 20-year-old woman was riding with friends on rented bikes, when she left the road on a downhill curve and plummeted onto a concrete pump station platform, according to reports in Liberty Times, and United Daily News.

Firefighters found the woman to be conscious but covered in bruises and lacerations to her face and limbs. The rescue team applied first aid, and secured the woman to a spinal board before taking her to Puli Christian Hospital for treatment.

The woman’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening, but required her to stay in hospital for observation yesterday, as she was suffering from dizziness, and possible concussion.
