Breakfast shop worker shot by stray bullet after shots fired in anger

A man working in a Hsinchu City breakfast shop was shot in the arm after a man fired shots from a passing car to express his anger at a “friend” who had pawned his car this morning, Sunday, December 13.

The breakfast shop worker, who is not named in reports, was frying dough sticks at the front of the store at around 4:00 am, when he heard “sounds like firecrackers” from a car passing by. The man then felt tingling in his left arm and found that he was bleeding profusely.

Firefighters attending to the injured man found that he had a penetration wound. After bandaging and hospital treatment, the man was in a stable condition.

Police arrested a suspect named Luo early this afternoon. According to the investigation so far, it was found that Mr Luo was angry because his friend had pawned Luo’s car. Luo saw his “friend” parked in front of the breakfast shop on Minsheng Road, and fired two shots to express his anger.

One of the shots accidentally hit the breakfast shop employee.

Police seized a modified pistol believed to have been used in the shooting.
