16 Year-old Unlicensed Driver Seriously Injured, Dad Dead

A 48 year-old man died at the scene of an accident after his 16 year-old son lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a utility pole on Highway 3 in Miaoli County last night, October 22.

Mr Qiu was found with no heartbeat or vital signs at the scene of the accident and was declared dead at the hospital after failing to respond to CPR. Qiu junior was in a critical condition with head and abdominal injuries. He also suffered cuts to his face and a broken wrist.

The younger Qiu was taking his father home at around 9:00pm when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a bend in the road. Drunk driving was excluded as a factor in the accident after blood tests were carried out on the unlicensed, under-aged driver.

Police are waiting for Qiu to regain consciousness so they can clarify details of the case.
