1 Dead, 1 Injured after Truck Slams Head-on into Bus

The driver of a small truck was killed instantly, and a bus driver injured, after the truck hit a municipal bus head-on in Liugui District, Kaohsiung City, this morning.

Fortunately, none of the passengers on the bus, which included students on their way to school, were seriously affected by the crash, according to reports in Liberty Times Network, and SETN.

The bus driver, Mr Pan, 39, was unable to evade the oncoming truck as it hurtled toward him on the wrong side of the road, on Luohan Mountain at around 6:00am.

Pan was rushed to hospital and firefighters used hydraulic equipment to cut the driver of the little blue truck, Mr Zhang, 19, out of the wreckage.

Firefighters and police investigators found fishing equipment in the back of the truck, and as Pan was driving in the direction of his home, it is suspected that he had spent the night fishing and may have been suffering fatigue at the time of the accident, and fallen asleep at the wheel.
